Round The World Trip
Manly, Australia Diary Entry

Hope you are doing well? Hope everyone had a good new years eve??
Christmas period has been very hectic with one mad night after another at the hostel. Headed into the city a few times to see the Opera House, Botanical Gardens and to wander round the shops. Also managed to fit in a trip to Taronga Zoo one day which was pretty good. It's odd to see the giraffe's with Sydney in the background!
New Years Eve proved to be very good. Emma and I went to Circular Quays with a few friends before heading to Luna Park which is a fun park just under Sydney Harbour Bridge. Got there about 9pm just as the Darling Harbour fireworks were going off so we got to see some of those, then we went on a mad mission and hit the rides. Got to see Sydney upside down a few times which was quite funny! Got ourselves a great spot on the boardwalk with a fantastic view of the bridge for the massive firework display at midnight which was awesome! Never seen fireworks like it... fantastic! After midnight we spent the rest of the evening darting about between dance tents, the bar and the rides. It was a great night. The party finished a 3am (which was a bit of a surprise) and we had a bit of a 2 1/2 hour mission to get back to Manly where we sat up for a bit having a couple of beers before catching a few hours sleep.
Woke up New Years Day after a few hours sleep to one of the hottest ever... it was over 43! Bloody roasting! Got the beers in with a few people from the hostel and hit the beach. It was a good day but I caught the sun a bit!
The next few days following we filled with after New Years Celebrations. Met some cracking people just before we all had to go our separate ways (hello to Lee, Michelle and Kylie - 3 of the best people I met in Manly and not forgetting OJ ... so make that 4 people!). It always seems that you meet the best people in a place either just before you leave or they have to head off, but I guess that is part and parcel of travelling.
Had a great evening down Coogee last night with the people mentioned above. Ended up at the hostel with myself, Lee and OJ playing drinking games... it all got very messy. Lee and myself made poor old OJ a bit tom dick! Mind you, between the 3 of use we managed to drink 3/4trs of a box of goon, 2/3rds of a bottle of vodka and a few stray bottles of beer in about 45 minutes! That's the last time I ever play one of Lees drinking card games! I think I had the worse hangover ever today (cheers Lee & OJ!!).
Was supposed to check out the hostel this morning but Lee, Michelle and Kylie came to the rescue are letting me stay the night on the floor on their room, which is breaking the hostel rules... but who cares! Means we all got to hang out for one more night. :)
I think today is going to be mostly spent chilling out and recovering form the night before!
Tomorrow we all part company and I moved into Sydney for a few days in order to go to the Blue Mountains and do the bridge climb.
