Round The World Trip
Auckland, New Zealand Diary Entry

Well my first full day in Auckland!
Got up yesterday morning and got the shuttle bus to the airport checked in and was told there was no entertainment system on the plane... rubbish. Got a $20 book token though so I got myself a book, stocked up on a ton of booze for Jane (my friend in NZ) and hopped onto the plane. Entertainment system was working so the free book was a bit of a bonus!
Yesterday afternoon I was picked up from Auckland airport by my friend Jane who I hadn't seen for about five years, it was really nice to see her again and catch up. I was going to be staying with Jane and her boyfriend Ash at their flat for a few days. That has been the first time I have been anywhere on this trip where I have had someone waiting to collect me... thanks Jane! :)
That evening we went to the restaurant in Auckland which Ash manages, it's called Monsoon Poon and the food was really nice!
Today I wandered about the city for a bit before going to Auckland's Sky Tower. Went up the Sky Tower to the observation deck which had the most awesome view, stayed up there for about an hour taking it all in. Realised when I was on the observation deck you could actually jump off the tower so after a bit of thinking I decided to give it a go! Went in, paid my money, got my jump suit on and up I went... the jump is 192 metres high and is the tallest legal base jump with cables you can do (Auckland's Sky Tower is the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere). Walked out on what can only be described as the gang plank, got a countdown from 3 to 1 and just had to walk off the edge! It was pretty mad falling towards concrete but I was so glad I did it. What a way to see the city :)
