Round The World Trip
Auckland, New Zealand Diary Entry

Today Ash took me to Piha Beach... it is a black sand beach, which is a bit different! Very hot under your feet when you take the old flip flops off! The waves there were cranking... some real big ones! Apparently the beach had been on the news that week as a few people had to be rescued because it was so bad! Anyway, we got in the water and had a swim about before I tried 'bodysurfing' where you basically swim with the wave and catch it right at the top and it takes you in towards the shore. At first I just couldn't get the hang of it but towards the end of the day we caught a wave which must have been about 2 metres high and I got it just right and was swept in for ages. Totally wicked!
The rest of the day I just pottered around town, booked up my trip round the North and South Island and then had a quiet evening in with Jane and her friend Delwyn.
