Airlie Beach, Australia Diary Entry

After managing to survive Fraser Island I left Hervey Bay and got the night bus to Airlie Beach (12 hour bus ride, crap sleep but saves on a nights accommodation and means you don't miss out on a day). Met two girls from the UK on the bus journey who turned out to be absolute diamonds and really made the next few days heaps of fun with millions of laughs so a big shout goes out to Naomi and Anna!

Arrived in Airlie yesterday and did all the horrid things you have to do like washing clothes, sorting out food and all that. After that headed down to the lagoon for a swim. The lagoon is a man made pool / beach thing right besides the real beach but you cannot swim in the sea this time of year due to jellyfish, oh jellyfish kill out here by the way! Some of them have neurotoxins which basically shut down your body and stop vital organs like your heart working... NICE!

Bumped into Anna and Naomi in the pool and arranged to meet up later that night.

Went out yesterday evening for a bit of a wild one, had a total blast and ended up dancing about in the "Juice Bar" until about 1.30 / 2 in the morning... me, Remco, Naomi, Anna, Danny and some guy who looked like Harry Potter. All very funny.

Today is just going to be another chilled out one at the lagoon, possibly some shopping! There isn't a whole heap of stuff to do at Airlie (but there are some great bars!) and we've worked out it was just a pit stop for the trips to The Whitsundays.
