Round The World Trip
Cairns, Australia Diary Entry
Date Posted: 21/12/2005
Yesterday I did a bit of research on trips to do with Anna and Naomi when they arrive, went and found the hostel where they will be staying and booked myself in there for tonight - my last night in Cairns! Did some shopping and then chilled for the afternoon at the lagoon.
In the evening Remco and I went to a blues bar (which I can't remember the name of) but it was quite cool as we saw some real live Aussie music with didgeridoos (or however the hell you spell it). After that we headed to the Woolshed but that was a bit dead. I think everyone must have been making their way down to Sydney for Christmas and New Year.
Today I did a "Cape Tribulation Day Trip" which took me along the North Queensland Coastline to Port Douglas and then to the Daintree Mangroves Wildlife Sanctuary where I befriended a little wallaby! There were loads of animals there including crocodiles, kangaroos and the most amazing collection of birds. Crossed the Daintree River by ferry and then carried on further to do some of the Daintree Rainforest Marrjda Botanical Boardwalk before stopping for lunch near Cape Tribulation. Later on in the afternoon we went on a boat ride down The Daintree River (saw a baby croc) and then to Mossman Gorge for a swim!
Got back to Cairns early evening and made my way to my new second hostel and met up with the girls who then cooked me dinner (cheers ladies... see I told you they were diamonds!). After dinner we headed out to Gilligans and then on to The Woolshed for a bit of a messy one as it was out last night in Australia together.
