Round The World Trip
Beachcomber, Fiji Diary Entry
Date Posted: 15/02/2006
Tuesday (14th) had a bit of a lay in as there was no need to check out the room until 11am, got up and did a spot of kayaking before packing up and heading to the north west of the island to the Ba district were everyone from the bus went for a meal. After that were were taken to the hot pools and mud pools of the Sabeto Valley. The mud pool was disgusting but I just jumped in. You were neck high in warm muddy water and knee high in warm mud... it was really quite foul! Mud was being thrown everywhere at everyone and as horrid as it was it was quite fun! Jumped into the hot pool to clean off which was pretty much like a hot bath! Very nice! One of the pools there was so hot I think you could have boiled and egg in it! That evening went back to Nadi were we chilled out with a few drinks and a nice meal.
At the hotel I stayed in that night in Nadi I bumped into the two girls who were in my room in Auckland who had to rush round to get their flight to Fiji... so they did make it after all!
Got up this morning and went out to Beachcomber Island where I am staying for one night. Beachcomber is pretty much the same size as Caqalai but much more touristy. This is the place with the legendary 102 bed dorm! Beachcomber is known as the party island but I think the reason most people get drunk is because how on earth else do you get to sleep when you share a room with 101 others? The queues for the showers are also fun if you get there at the wrong time!
Will be spending most the time here chilling out on the beach or snorkling on the reef.
