Got up the this morning and booked a day trip to go down the Great Ocean Road on the Tuesday - knowing my luck there would be rain, cloud, mist or at the very worse... snow (I can hear Michelle and Kylie laughing already). Jumped on the tram with Maddy and headed into Melbourne for a bit of wander about and after an hour or so we derided to go to Melbourne Zoo.

Melbourne Zoo was really good, I was actually surprised how good it was. Saw some fantastic big cats - the jaguars and lions were amazing and the orangutans fascinated us for ages. Had a real result because one of the monkeys enclosures we went to there was a baby monkey that had been born during the night and we got the see the little devil... it was less that 12 hours old, so cool!

I made the most tremendous cock up when we entered the zoo (I can hear Maddy laughing as I go to tell this story). By the entrance to the zoo there was a zoo keeper with a Koala on a branch which was mounted on to a table. We were standing there chatting to this zoo keeper for almost 5 minutes when I piped up referring to the koala and said "he doesn't move much does he?" and that was the moment when I realised the bloody thing was dead and stuffed! I felt silly, Maddy was in tears of laughter and the zoo keeper thought it was so funny she had to go and tell the other guy who was working there. Oh well, it was funny now I look back at it.

Headed back into Melbourne, took the free tram round the city stopping off at a few sights including the dockland area where all the buildings were really modern and mad, saw a cow in a tree and then went off to find somewhere to have a drink. Was wandering about when Maddy randomly bumps into some guy who is also involved in the Volvo boat race and he ends up taking us for dinner and drinks on the company! Result!
