Round The World Trip
Ao Nang, Thailand Diary Entry
Date Posted: 22/11/2005
Had a bit of an adventure packed day today. Was up fairly early and on a boat heading to Rai Leh Beach to go rock-climbing. The place where they do rock-climbing is really nice, it's a pretty steep rock face right on the beach and the sea is almost lapping at your feet. I did three or four climbs (slipped on two) but did manage to get to the top of each climb before abseiling down, it was a real buzz!
Headed back to Ao Nang and quickly grabbed some food and Stu before heading off to go kayaking in the mangroves. This was really good fun - basically kayaking in the sea to some really nice places we even visited the burial ground of the sea gypsies. It was pretty cool paddling about in the mangroves feeding monkeys bits of pineapple from the kayak.
As the light began to fade and it turned to dusk it was a really nice feeling just floating about without a care in the world between awesome rock formations eating lumps of fresh pineapple (the monkeys never got all of it!). Both me and Stu wished we had a beer!!
Headed back to shore and then back to Ao Nang for a good feed of pad thai from the lady who cooks on the street and then a night on the beers in the KR Bar.
Been eating like kings for the last few days (the South African boys love their food!). Had barracuda and shark steaks one evening and the meal cost about £3... how good is that
