Round The World Trip
Foster City, America Diary Entry
Date Posted: 26/02/2006
Friday (24th) we did the road trip back to San Francisco from Yosemite and passed through gold mining country where the gold rush started in California in 1849 (that's why San Fran's football team are called the 49'ers). Stopped off at Angels Camp along the way for a spot of lunch. Angels Camp is the home of the jumping frog competition... all very strange goings on! Got back to Foster City early evening.
Saturday (25th) got the train into San Francisco and went to the areas 'South Of Market' or 'SOMA' and Tenderloin to get some photos of graffiti. Got some pretty good photos and even managed to snap a sign of how SOMA is a high crime area... nice! Later on in the day dot the trolley car to the Haight Ashbury area and spent most the afternoon wandering around the cool music and clothes shops there, spending money I didn't have! Oops!
Today the weather was not so good, it was raining and it is rumoured that there is going to be rain for the rest of the week. Damn! Sorted a few things out in the morning and then headed into San Francisco to go to The Museum Of Modern Art - spent most of the afternoon wandering around there, just over 4 hours in total! Loads to see spread over the four floors, some fantastic stuff! There was a Chuck Close exhibition on which I was pretty pleased about. Headed back to Foster City in the evening.
